- Finish your defeating the monster story using the plan you created. Think carefully about the description you use, fronted adverbials, punctuation and also varying your sentence lengths.
Reading:
- Find a comfy spot in your house and read for pleasure. From the pages you have read, what was your favourite part?
PE:
- Remember the fitness test we did at the start of the half term? How many press-ups, sit-ups, star jumps, burpees and mountain climbers can you do in 60 seconds?

- We are beginning to write our defeating the monster story as an independent task. Think about the story we imitated and what happened to the gladiator with the beast he fought. Plan your own defeating the monster story using these paragraphs and then begin writing your opening paragraph.
Opening:

Build up:
- MC having a bad time.
Dilemma:
- Monster introduced and MC faced with it.
- Something bad happens.
Resolution:
- MC makes a plan to defeat monster.
- MC manages to overcome monster.
Ending:
- MC shows their feelings after they defeated the monster.
- MC reflects on events and looks to future.
Spellings:
- Keep practicing your spellings ahead of the test on Friday.

My Maths homework:
My Maths homework has been set and it is looking at adding by estimating. We have done this recently and we understand that we estimate to find an answer that is near the actual answer. Also, we use estimates of numbers to make it easier and quicker to do mental calculations when we are happy to accept an answer which is very close to the actual answer.

Hello Himalayas, if you are well enough here is some work for you to complete today.
Maths:
- We are continuing to count in fractions today and fully understanding what fractions make a whole. E.g. 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 = 4/4 which is equal to one whole.
- Have a go at these questions.
English:
- Yesterday, you planned your change story and wrote the opening and build-up. Have a go at writing the dilemma, resolution and ending of your change story. Make sure to edit as you go and keep checking for punctuation, capital letters and spellings.

- Today is our spelling test. Can a grown up test you on your spellings?
History:
- Today we are writing our answer to the question 'How has coal mining changed Selby as a settlement?'
- Think about when you wrote your discussion text and try and use sentence signposts like on the other hand, furthermore, in addition etc. Think about the different facts we have discussed too. For example, one reason why coal mining changed Selby as a settlement was that is was one of the leading coal mines in the UK so brought in money and attention for Selby's economy. It also brought many jobs to the people living in Selby.

- Today you will need to plan your own change story. Think about what could change your character's life and how this will happen. Think about Archie's Dream story map and how his life was changed. Here is the planning document.
- Then write the opening and build-up to your change story. Do not try and finish your story today as we want to make sure we are taking our time. Make sure you focus carefully on hooking the reader with your opening, the 4 W's, character descriptions focusing on descriptive features like show not tell, expanded noun phrases and then finally choosing the appropriate nouns and pronouns.
Computing:
- We have been looking at algorithms and programming in our computing lessons. Have a go at this online algorithm game to practice your skills.
Reading:
- Grab your favourite teddy, favourite book and find a comfy spot to read.

Maths:
- We are going to be looking at 1/2 and 2/4 as equivalence fractions again today. Can you have a go at these fluency, reasoning and problem solving questions. Watch the video from yesterday to help you remember.
English:
- We have been looking at editing our work to further improve it. Now that you have finished your resolution and ending paragraph, can you edit it to improve it with a different colour pen. Think about our levelling up pencil in the classroom.

- I have written my resolution paragraph. Can you fill in the missing gaps?

History:
- We have been looking at how Selby has changed as a settlement. Today, we are looking at primary and secondary sources of information.

- In English, we always look at editing and improving our work. Can you edit this pants paragraph? Think about the different bullet points.
- Then using my plan from Thursday, write your dilemma paragraph to your change story.

- Remind yourself of the names of fruit in French and have a go at designing your own fruit kebab. Can you add the colours of the fruits in your labels as well?

- Today you need to write the build-up to your change story. Think about how you can describe the setting, the characters your character meets and what they are going to do. Refer back to my plan to help you innovate the build up.

- Today is the spelling test. See if someone you live with can test you on them.

- Finally, have a go at reading and learning your lines for our school play. Can you remember them without looking? Can an adult become the other characters so you know when to come in with your lines?

- Today we will be innovating our change story. Using your plan from yesterday, can you write the opening paragraph to your story. Remember we have discussed that an opening paragraph should hook the reader immediately. Therefore, use descriptive features like expanded noun phrases, show not tell and other features like fronted adverbials.
- Here is my innovate planning and opening paragraph which you can take inspiration from.
PE:
- In PE we have been looking at street dance. Can you remember learning this dance?
- Practice the 4 movements we have been looking at and remember to count aloud or in your head so you are dancing at the correct pace

In maths we have been focusing on recognising a third and today you need to find a third.
English:
- In English, we have been looking at a change story. Thinking about Archie's Dream, can you innovate the story by changing the character and how they are going to be rich. Instead of being related to Rowntree family, could your character be related to the owner of Cadburys? Keep the setting the same as Archie's Dream.
- Use the boxing up grid to help you with your planning.
History:
- We have been looking at Selby as a settlement. Can you give reasons why these facts may have caused Selby to change? Think about the market fact and how it has continued since the 14th century. Why might this be? Is it popular for Selby? Give a reason for each of the facts.
